Compared to software projects with 1 million lines of codes, which where considered very large and complex a few decades go, todays software projects can exceed 60 million lines of code and there are projects like the A380 aircraft which give us an idea how complexity will grow in the future. But the methods we use to tackle these challenges are still the same. Most of them are from the 70s and some of them like the GANTT charts date back around 100 years. Tom DeMarco, principal at The Atlantic Systems Guild and author of highly regarded books like Slack and Adrenaline Junkies and Template Zombies, discusses methods to cope with this sea change with Andreas Heilwagen:
